Google Drive Sync
Short answer
use.fo syncs your Snippets (saved reusable text) across macOS, iOS, and Android using Google Drive App Data scope. This means use.fo can only read and write to its own app-specific folder in your Google Drive — it cannot access your files, documents, or any other Google Drive data.

Steps
- What are Snippets?
Snippets are short pieces of text you save in use.fo for reuse. For example, you might save a common greeting, a frequently-used reply template, or a recurring prompt. Snippets let you insert saved text quickly instead of dictating the same thing repeatedly.
- Connect your Google account
Open use.fo on macOS, iOS, or Android. Go to Settings → Snippets → Connect Google Account (or Google Drive Sync). Sign in with your Google account. use.fo will request access using Google App Data scope — this only grants access to use.fo's own app data, not your files.
- How sync works
Once connected, any Snippet you create on one device (e.g. your Mac) will automatically appear on your iPhone and Android phone when they are connected to the internet. Changes sync within a few minutes.
- Create and use Snippets
To save a Snippet: after dictating text, look for the Save as Snippet option in the use.fo interface. Give the Snippet a name. To use a Snippet: in the keyboard or app, tap the Snippets button and select the Snippet to insert it.
- Disconnect Google account
To disconnect: Settings → Snippets → Disconnect Google Account. Your Snippets will still be available locally on the device but will not sync until you reconnect.
Before you start
Snippets sync is available on macOS, iOS, and Android. Snippets are not currently supported on Windows. You need a Google account to use sync.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Snippets are not syncing between my devices
Solution: Check that both devices are connected to the internet and signed in with the same Google account in use.fo settings. Allow a few minutes for sync. If sync still fails, disconnect and reconnect your Google account.
Problem: I don't see the Google Drive Sync option
Solution: Snippets sync is available on macOS, iOS, and Android. It is not available on Windows. If you are on a supported platform and the option is missing, update to the latest version of use.fo.
Problem: What data does use.fo store in my Google Drive?
Solution: use.fo only stores your Snippet data (the text you saved) in the Google App Data scope — a hidden, app-specific area of your Google Drive. use.fo cannot access your personal Google Drive files, documents, photos, or any other data. You can verify this in your Google Account permissions (myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party apps).
