No-subscription voice typing

BYOK voice typing with your own API key

Short answer

BYOK lets you bring an API key from your preferred provider to use.fo. Desktop BYOK covers macOS and Windows; Mobile BYOK is purchased separately for iOS or Android. The use.fo license is one-time, while provider usage is billed separately. BYOK sends content to your selected provider and is not an offline or local-AI route.

Who this route is for

  • People who already use a supported AI provider
  • Users who want to control provider choice and usage billing
  • People who need no-subscription voice typing on desktop and mobile

Choose the route that matches your constraints

LicensePlatformsOne-time use.fo priceSeparate provider cost
BYOK DesktopmacOS, Windows$29.99 one-time license per desktop deviceYes
BYOK MobileiOS or Android$9.99 one-time in-app purchaseYes
Local AISupported desktops only$24.99 one-time license per desktop deviceNo provider usage fee

Providers and request path

Use a supported Groq, OpenRouter, Google AI Studio key. The key remains stored locally on the device, and your content goes directly to the provider endpoint you configure rather than through use.fo servers.

Estimate the total cost

Your total cost is the one-time use.fo license plus the provider’s metered usage. Check the provider’s current pricing before purchase: model choice, transcription volume, and rewrite volume all affect the total.

Set up safely

Follow the provider-specific setup guide, verify the key with a small request, and keep enough provider credit available. An invalid, expired, or depleted key can stop BYOK requests until it is replaced or topped up.

Important limitations

  • BYOK needs a provider account, API key, and any required provider credit.
  • Provider pricing and availability are controlled by the provider.
  • BYOK is cloud processing, not Local AI or offline processing.
