Google AI Studio API Key Setup for use.fo BYOK

Steps
- Go to Google AI Studio
Visit aistudio.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Create an API key
Click "Get API key" or go to the API Keys section. Click "Create API key". Copy the key — it starts with "AIza". Store it securely.
- Open use.fo Settings → BYOK
On your device, open use.fo and go to Settings → BYOK / My API Key.
- Select Google AI Studio
Choose Google AI Studio from the provider list for STT and/or rewrite. Select your preferred Gemini model.
- Enter your API key
Paste the key into the field. use.fo encrypts and stores it locally on your device.
- Test dictation
Hold your trigger key, speak a sentence, and confirm BYOK is active with your Google AI Studio key.
Before you start
You need a use.fo BYOK license (Desktop $29.99 or Mobile $9.99) and a Google account to access Google AI Studio.
Troubleshooting
Problem: API key rejected
Solution: Confirm the key starts with "AIza" and was copied in full. Check that your Google AI Studio project has the Generative Language API enabled.
Problem: Quota exceeded error
Solution: Google AI Studio free tier has usage limits. Upgrade your billing in Google Cloud Console, or switch to a different provider like Groq for heavier usage.
